Carbon Integrity

Independent verification infrastructure for the voluntary carbon market.

An additional view alongside the registries — same projects, same boundaries, an entirely independent data source. Satellite evidence shows whether what is happening on the ground is consistent with what was credited.

We are not paid by the projects we monitor, and we do not issue credits.

The problem

Buyers carry the risk of claims they can't check.

A carbon credit is a claim about what happened in a forest or landscape — often far away, and verified in periodic cycles. Disclosure and green-claims rules raise the bar for what buyers must be able to back up. Independent evidence has been hard to get.

  • Distance Projects are remote; documentation is prepared for the project.
  • Time Conditions change between verification cycles.
  • Scrutiny Claims now need evidence, not only certificates.
Method

Three independent axes. Never averaged into one number.

A strong vegetation trend shouldn't hide an implausible baseline — so each axis is reported separately.

Axis 1

Impact Consistency Score (0–100)

Is the project area developing the way the credits suggest? Four weighted components, all from independent satellite and geospatial data.

  • Vegetation trend 40%

Regression on the Sentinel-2 NDVI time series of the project area.

  • Forest loss 25%

Global Forest Watch tree-cover loss 2001–2024, before vs. after issuance.

  • Timeline consistency 20%

How the vegetation signal behaves around the first credit issuance.

  • Data quality 15%

Boundary, NDVI coverage, loss history and registry metadata.

Published component weights of the Impact Consistency Score.
Axis 2

Baseline Plausibility (REDD+)

Was there a real deforestation threat to avoid — and is the credited volume plausible? Includes an overcrediting ratio and a comparison with a 10 km buffer around the project.

Axis 3 In development

Causal Impact Estimate

Estimates the project's effect on forest cover against comparable areas. Developed with researchers at the University of Bonn (Land Economics Group).

Who it's for

Evidence for every side of the market.

  • Corporate credit buyers

Due diligence before you buy; monitoring for deterioration after.

  • Investors

Independent signals on the projects behind a carbon position.

  • Registries & brokers

An independent second view on the projects you list or trade.

  • EU institutions & policymakers

Evidence for Article 6 cooperation and regulatory design.

  • Universities & NGOs

Free access for research and public-interest work.

Helps you prepare the evidence behind disclosures and claims under frameworks such as the EU's CSRD and Empowering Consumers Directive, and California's AB 1305. It is not a compliance certification.

Independence

Built to be checked — including by you.

  • Independent data

Sentinel-2, Global Forest Watch, NASA FIRMS, ESA CCI, Sentinel-5P.

  • Transparent method

Published weights, axes shown separately, Impact Consistency breakdown free for everyone.

  • No conflicts

Not paid by projects. No credits issued.

FAQ

Questions buyers and reviewers ask us.

Do you replace verifiers or registries?

No. We complement registry methodology and accredited verification with an independent data source. We don't issue credits, and projects don't pay us.

Does a low score mean fraud?

No. A lower score is a prompt for review, not a final judgement. It shows you where to look more closely.

Do you measure additionality?

No. Baseline Plausibility tests whether a REDD+ project faced a real deforestation threat and whether the credited volume is plausible. Additionality needs financial and regulatory analysis that we don't perform.

Why are 4,000+ of 14,000+ projects scored?

We index projects across 8 registries. We only produce scores where project boundaries and satellite evidence allow a meaningful analysis.

Can we use this for CSRD or AB 1305?

It helps you prepare: independent, documented evidence on the projects behind your credits, with PDF reports and API access in the Commercial tier. It is not a compliance certification, and you remain responsible for your disclosures.
